Career Discovery for Teens is not another program that gets your teen into university. It's a GAME-CHANGER and gives your teen career clarity, understanding, and confidence BEFORE they graduate from secondary school because let's be real...career choices are confusing and the fear of making the wrong choice is really scary.

It helps parents, like you, feel confident that their teen is ready and happy about the career choices they make before they graduate!
Career Discovery for Teens will teach your teen that making a career choice is not a 'quick fix decision'; it's a long-lasting and impactful decision that you want to know they feel confident making. I always tell my students' parents, 'a career choice is never a static choice; it's so much more complex than just choosing a degree.'
In 10 Sessions, I will teach your teen how to reflect on who they are today, help them begin to explore their career aspirations (even if you think they don't have any)! Career Discovery for Teens will help them dive into the amazing options that are out there and support them as they prepare themselves for life and career after high school.
WHAT'S IN THE PROGRAM?
These are the TEN sessions that make up the foundational career guidance program you want your teen to experience to ensure they are CAREER-READY when they graduate. Each session is designed to build on the previous one teaching your teen essential strategies and processes that they can use today, tomorrow, and in their future. Career Discovery for Teens takes the stress out of making choices and takes your teen from feeling overwhelmed about career choices to feeling confident in their ability to make decisions that feel right for their future.
Discover Occupations
HOW TO START THE CAREER DISCOVERY PROCESS YOU NEED TO GAIN AWARENESS AND INFORMATION BEFORE YOU MAKE ANY CONFIRMED CHOICES.
Session 1:
This session teaches your teen how to effectively use online resources to explore potential career paths. They'll start by identifying keywords related to jobs and industries that catch their interest. Next, they'll create a shortlist of careers they want to research further before making any decisions. This process will empower them to choose a path that aligns with their interests and goals.
Session 2:
Extend Career Options
HOW TO USE CAREER ASSESSMENTS TO EXTEND CAREER OPPORTUNITIES AND GENERATE OCCUPATIONS WITH A SCOPE ON INDUSTRIES & EMPLOYABILITY.
In this session, your teen will explore more career discovery and complete a fun career assessment! Together, we'll explore the assessment results to uncover even more exciting career options. Plus, I'll teach your teen how to expand their career lists by branching out and elaborating on different paths. This is a great way to help your teen think about their future and discover opportunities they might not have considered before.
Research Occupations
HOW TO RESEARCH THE LIFESPAN OF AN OCCUPATION AND IDENTIFY COMPONENTS OF THE CAREER THAT WILL IMPACT YOUR QUALITY OF LIFE.
Session 3:
In this session, your teen will take a closer look at the shortlist of potential careers they’ve created. They'll reflect on their options, decide if any should be removed or updated, and make sure the options 'feel right' for them. I will teach them how to use helpful career resources to gain a solid understanding of different pathways and what makes a job fulfilling. The conversation unwraps the question: What is the quality of life you're aspiring to live? Plus, I'll teach your teen how to rank their top choices before making those 'university' final decisions.
Session 4:
Post-Secondary Pathways
HOW TO CONSIDER THE UNIVERSITY OPTIONS THAT YOU NEED TO DECIDE BEFORE YOU GRADUATE.
In this session, your teen will learn about different post-secondary pathways that can lead to making their career decisions. They'll discover how to use online resources to explore academic or vocational options. I will teach your teen how to research university options. I will give your teen my signature strategy for research academic options that match their preferred learning styles along with job requirements before making any decisions. Plus, they’ll create a shortlist of their favourite post-secondary institutions and alternative learning options so they’re ready to discuss their top choices confidently with you.
Session 5:
HOW TO DECIDE WHICH UNIVERSITY TO CHOOSE & FEEL CONFIDENT ABOUT YOUR CHOICE(S).
University Choices & Priorities
This session will empower your teen to confidently choose the right university by building on the insights gained from our previous sessions. They will learn to evaluate their options using a holistic approach that ensures that your teen will make an informed decision about the next academic milestone. This is a deeply reflexive session that allows your teen the time and space to do some introspective work. The session fosters self-assurance, support, and clarity. I know that making a university choice is a complex process but this session helps your teen simplify it while building their confidence and success metrics.
Session 6:
Application Requirements
HOW TO BUILD YOUR APPLICATION PROCESS AND UNDERSTAND THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS BEFORE YOU START APPLYING.
In this session, I'll teach your teen how to complete their university applications. We’ll explore ONE university application portal and complete all the required documents to complete their online application requirements.
Session 7:
Finding Your Voice & Writing Compelling Personal Statements & College Essays
HOW TO STAND OUT AND MAKE YOUR UNIQUENESS SHINE THROUGH YOUR COLLEGE ESSAY OR PERSONAL STATEMENT.
In this session, I'll will guide your teen through the writing process for ONE university portal by helping them discover their unique voice and individuality. We will explore reflective exercises and prompts that encourage self-discovery, alloweing them to identify their passions, experiences, and values. Through interactive discussions your teen will articulate their stories authentically, ensuring their written essays resonate with the required writing prompts and make their written piece stand out among the rest! We won't quit until your teen's letter/statement is ready to be delivered!
Session 8:
Plan B - Finding Peace Amidst the Uncertainties of University Applications
HOW TO USE YOUR TOOLBOX OF STRATEGIES FOR NAVIGATING UNCERTAINTIES AND FINDING PEACE IN THE FACE OF UNEXPECTED OUTCOMES.
Plan B will blend the T-GROW coaching model with Ms.V's unique approach, inspiring your teen to embrace the opportunities within a backup plan. Parents are warmly invited to the plenary part of this session to understand how they can support their teen if university results don't go as expected. This session teaches a lifeskill that your teen can use at any crossroads of their future life.
Session 9:
Work Experience, Internships & Professional Mentorship
HOW TO GAIN EXPERIENCES OF WORK THAT GIVE YOU CAREER-LONG MENTORSHIP AND GET YOU CONCRETE CAREER CONFIDENCE.
In this session, I'll teach your teen how to find valuable work experience. We’ll explore online resources that can help them build essential skills for internships. They'll also learn why it’s important to try out different work experiences before settling on a career path. Plus, I’ll share some networking tips that will boost their confidence and expand their professional connections. This is a great way to set your teen up for success in their future!
Session 10:
Preparing for the Careers Service at University
WHAT TO EXPECT AND NOT EXPECT OF THE CAREERS SERVICE AT UNIVERSITY.
In this session, I'll teach your teen how to take advantage of the careers service at their chosen university. We will unwrap the amazing opportunities that a university career service can provide if your teen uses it effectively. I will create an individual career development plan for your teen will be able to use and progress through while attending university so that employment after their university graduation WILL be achievable.
